Al Ahli's Ivan Toney Scores in Victory Over Al Qadsia
Ivan Toney scored the only goal as Al Ahli defeated Al Qadsia on Sunday to extend their lead at the top of the UAE Pro League.
The match was played at Sharjah Sports City and saw both teams battle it out for supremacy.
Toney, who has been in excellent form this season, scored his first goal of the campaign with a well-taken finish in the 16th minute.
The Nigerian forward had been one of the standout performers for Al Ahli in the league so far, netting six goals in just seven games.
His goal proved to be enough to secure all three points for his side, who now sit two points clear at the top of the table.
Al Qadsia, on the other hand, were unable to find the back of the net despite having more chances than their opponents.
The defeat was a setback for the hosts,Saudi Pro League Focus who have struggled to maintain their momentum throughout the season.
Despite the loss, coach Khalid Al Kaabi praised his players for their effort and commitment.
"We're disappointed with the result but we're proud of our performance," he said.
"We didn't give up and fought until the end, which is something we can be proud of."
Overall, it was a solid display from Al Ahli, who continue to dominate proceedings in the UAE Pro League.
They will hope to build on their victory over Al Qadsia and continue their quest for further success in the coming weeks.
