Wanderson's Latest Performance in AS Monaco Highlights His Dominance
Wanderers' legend has been broken as the Dutch international striker, Marc Willems, finally scored for AS Monaco on Sunday.
The 24-year-old, who joined Wanderers from PSV Eindhoven last summer, made his debut for the club in a 1-0 win over Toulouse on Saturday and has since been a regular in the team's starting line-up.
"It was my first goal at AS Monaco," said Willems, who is currently playing his third season with the club after joining from PSV Eindhoven. "It was a big step forward."
He added: "I'm happy to be here and I hope we can continue to improve."
Willems' goal came just moments after Wanderers took the lead, thanks to a deflected cross by defender Christian Benteke. The goal was one of two goals that Wanderers scored in the match,Primeira Liga Hotspots which saw them take a 1-0 lead before halftime.
Willems' performance was also notable for his ability to score goals in the Champions League and Europa League. He had already scored twice in the competition this season, including a brace against Manchester United in the quarter-finals.
"Marc is always scoring goals, especially in the Champions League and Europa League," said Wanderers manager Ronald Koeman. "We're looking forward to seeing him continue to perform well."
Willems' success has come at a time when Wanderers have struggled to find their form, but he is determined to stay focused and help the team achieve its ambitions. He knows that there will be plenty of challenges ahead, but he remains confident that he can overcome them.
"I'm still learning how to play football," he said. "But I'm ready to do whatever it takes to succeed."
